Sarah-Jayne Tobin
Sarah-Jayne- or SJ as most people call her- is EVOKE's native editor since April 2025, but has been with the team since the start of 2022, also presenting EVOKE's INSPIRE podcast. Before that, she had a varied career in Irish media.
When she left college initially, SJ had ambitions to work in television and spent a few years working her way up the ranks in the national broadcaster RTE. She started in the newsroom where she witnessed some of the biggest moments in history from behind the newsdesk- including 9/11 and the war in Iraq; before moving to The Afternoon Show, a daily magazine style programme.
While she enjoyed her work behind the scenes, SJ always had a grá for broadcasting, so when a new youth radio station SPIN1038 launched she got on board, and remained there for 10 years as breakfast news anchor with Joe and Keith on Breakfast Xpress.
From there, she spent the next few years works in various local radio stations in Dublin and Wicklow before heading back to RTE- this time as a radio news reader on RTE 2FM, Radio 1 and LyricFM, before heading back to commercial radio and the NewsTalk newsroom.
Immediately before joining the EVOKE team, SJ spent the entire pandemic working in the PR field- a move she made literally a week after it began.
SJ still keeps her finger in the broadcasting arena. She can be seen and heard across various radio stations and on Virgin Media Television shows from time to time.
Finally, she love keeping fit, catching up with friends and eating out- preferably Indian food. She adores travelling. She spent a lot of time in Turkey over the last few years, but has made it her business to tick as many other countries as possible off her list since the pandemic. As long as there is sunshine, blue skies and a beach nearby, she's in her element.
