Met Éireann has warned of a washout weekend ahead of the Electric Picnic festival in Laois.
The warm and humid weather we’ve seen the past few days won’t be making an appearance at Stradbally for the three-day music festival.
Met Éireann forecaster Rebecca Cantwell said that while it’s too early to say for sure, unsettled conditions are likely this weekend.

‘There’s plenty of low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic, and they’re just going to feed in constant spells of rain or showers,’ Ms Cantwell said.
It is expected that the driest weather will be on Friday, when Hozier, Chappell Roan and other acts take to Electric Picnic’s Main Stage.

‘Friday evening and Friday night will be mainly dry before a band of rain moves in from the west through Saturday morning and afternoon,’ Ms Cantwell said.
The whole country is set to feel the rain from Saturday. ‘The weekend will be unsettled, with a little bit of breezy temperatures, added Ms Cantwell.

‘Highest temperatures will be in and around the midteens and dropping back to maybe 9 and 11C by night.
'It is set to be a little bit chillier than what we’ve experienced the last while with the warmer and more humid conditions.’
She warned of grim conditions in the west ‘where all those systems do move in first’, but added that ‘they are moving right across the country’.

Met Éireann has no current indication of whether we can expect an encore of the warmer sunnier temperatures we’ve seen lately.
Ms Cantwell said: ‘There is no sign of a high-pressure system building back up and bringing those better conditions, at least for the moment.’
