It may be close to winter, but this doesn't stop the ladies from heading down to Listowel Races to enter this year's Best Dressed competition.

Making her way down to the race course, Joann Murphy from Kilgarvan chose white for her outfit today, a colour that many people would shy away from - especially where there is red wine available.

However, her bravery paid off, and she was picked by this year's judges, RTÉ Radio's Louise Duffy and fashion designer Shauna Courtney.

Joann, who is from Kilgarvan in County Kerry, works with her husband on their farm. While she mainly sticks to doing the books for the farm, she admitted that she does get out and about on the land in her wellies.

Laughing, she says, 'I do mainly the bookwork side of the farming. I might go tagging and dosing the sheep once or twice a year, but I do have the hunter wellies for that. I only come out on occasion.'

The mum of four spoke about her outfit, with two aspects in mind - style and comfort.

Wearing an all-white ensemble, she was named the McElligotts Kia Best Dressed Lady 2025 at Listowel Races this afternoon, telling us how this was not the first time the outfit had been worn to an event.

'I wore the top and the pants to the Dublin Horse Show with a different hat, and I just loved it so much. It's a really comfortable, funky outfit. I just love the style of it, and I wanted to give it another day out, so I changed my hat.'

Her hat was a sculpted dove headpiece by milliner Carol Kennelly, and her outfit was a fitted white Celia B two-piece trouser suit with a black and white stripe bag and shoes to match from Dune.

Winning a trip for two to New York and staying in the beautiful Fitzpatrick Hotel on Manhattan Island. We do not doubt that Joann will be hitting the shops in the Big Apple - she may even find herself another winning outfit for the future.

Congratulations Joann!
