Over the years, Michael Flately has proven that he is not a one-trick pony and recently he turned his attention to a bid for the Irish presidency.
This year celebrates 30 years since Michael gave us Lord of the Dance, and fans of the show will get a chance to see the production once more.
While Michael won't be on stage this time around, after hanging up his hard shoes in 2016, the star has ventured into other areas in life, and there is one person with whom he always goes to for advice.

The voice of reason for the former dancer is none other than his son, Michael, who has just graduated from Eton.
Speaking about this achievement, proud dad Michael told EVOKE: 'He did exceptionally well. I'm so proud of him, and he has gone on to study some of the toughest subjects: physics, maths, advanced maths, and computer science.'

When asked where he got that talent from, Michael laughed, saying: 'He got the physics and the chemistry side from his mother. I married a smart girl, how lucky am I?'
With his son about to branch out on his own, Michael has no worries about him venturing into the 'big bad world,' and at times, it is Dad who turns to his son for advice.
'When I decided that I wouldn't go for the presidency, it was my son that I asked to go for a walk and advise me,' he told EVOKE.
While Michael wouldn't divulge what father and son spoke about, he said: 'That's how much I value his opinion on things, he is very independent and he sees things from a whole new angle, something I would have missed.'

Looking at his son and those of around him who are a similar age, he said: 'I believe in the youth of this country. I believe in the young generation. I believe that it's time for the youth, the young people of Ireland, to stand up and be counted.'
Michael added that young people are 'highly intelligent, well-educated, determined, open-minded and driven, and this country is theirs now. It's time for them to take it by the scruff of the neck.'

While he has full admiration for his son, Michael holds his wife in such high esteem and speaks about her in such awe.
Thinking back, he said: 'I'm the luckiest man in the world. That day my wife said 'yes' was the best day of my life, and it just gets better all the time.'

With the couple heading towards celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, he says he has something very special planned, but won't be able to divulge anything just yet.
