Adolescence star Owen Cooper makes history at the Emmys

It was a night to remember for Adolescence at the 2025 Emmy Awards, as the Netflix hit swept the ceremony with six wins, including Best Limited Series.

The show’s breakout star, 15-year-old Owen Cooper, made history as the youngest-ever male Emmy winner, taking home the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Jamie Miller.

The Warrington-born teenager, who filmed the series at just 14, delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech, thanking the cast, crew, and his family. '

'This award may have my name on it, but it belongs to everyone behind the camera,' he said. Cooper’s win was one of many for Adolescence, which also saw Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty claim acting honors, while director Philip Barantini and writer Jack Thorne were also recognised.

The series, which explores the dark consequences of online incel culture, stormed the ratings charts worldwide, averaging 45 million views per month.

Graham, who played Jamie’s father, Eddie, said on the night, 'For me to be here today is the most humbling thing.'

There were plenty of Irish stars at the Emmys including Colin Farrell who attended with his son Henry.

Colin missed out an an award on the night for his role in the Penguin.
