It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since the first Lidl store opened its doors in Ireland, bringing with it the joy of the ever-changing middle aisle.
Lidl Ireland first opened its doors in the year 2000 and now welcomes over 1.5 million shoppers every week to its 229 stores all over the country.
And now, to mark the supermarket's 25th anniversary on the Emerald Isle, Lidl is launching a brand new Lidl Points scheme meaning customers can now receive one point for every €1 spent.

From June 26, Lidl shoppers who are registered on the Lidl Plus app, can start collecting Lidl Points when they go shopping and will enjoy even more discounts in store.
Customers will receive one point for every €1 spent, with points accumulated in the Lidl Plus app which can then be exchanged against free products in-store or coupons to save on their next shop.
The new Lidl Points rewards scheme is being rolled out in every Lidl store across Ireland and will compliment the existing customer offers and deals available via the Lidl Plus app, such as Scratch and Win, its popular 3 for €9 meat offer, and Super Savers as it offers customers a simpler way to access extra discounts and the choice to select how they are rewarded.

Speaking about the launch of the new Lidl Points scheme, Chief Customer Officer for Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland Ivan Ryan said: 'The Lidl Points rewards scheme has been a huge hit with our shoppers and is one of the many ways we continue to reward our customers through the Lidl Plus app. Trial users were highly satisfied with the scheme, and we’ve seen that reflected in redemption rates of money off vouchers and coupons for free products.
'As Ireland’s best value retailer, we are always exploring new ways to bring value to our customers. This new rewards scheme represents a fresh offering to customers and enables shoppers to choose how they want to be rewarded, on top of our already market leading prices.
'We've seen a real shift in customer shopping habits over the last number of months and shoppers have never been more price conscious.

'The new Lidl Points scheme not only extends our shopper rewards, but it’s the only scheme that allows customers to pick specific items to save on, when they want to, empowering shoppers to benefit from discounts in the way that they choose and brings a more personalised rewards scheme experience compared to some other retailers.
'We’re delighted to roll out this new reward programme as we mark our 25th anniversary in Ireland and we look forward to seeing even more shopper’s benefit.'
The Lidl Points scheme will go live on the Lidl Plus App on Thursday, June 26.
