The celebrity chef and his dance partner Becca Scott danced the America Smooth to the very appropriately chosen track Everyone Eats When They Come To My House by John Lithgow.

The routine unfolded around Kevin in cooking mode with a variety of foods on a counter and at one point he couldn't resist popping lettuce in his mouth.

Becca mentioned the lettuce in the winner's box and fans twigged that there must be some sort of inside joke at play. Now they have explained the 'lettuce' moment.

It turns out that every time they practised the routine there would be a different real fruit or veg on set and when Becca clocked the lettuce on the night she decided to make it part of the routine.

She placed it in his pestle and mortar but ever the chef Kevin couldn't resist removing it as it would never be there in real life before eating it much to Becca's surprise.

'Kevin and I have got some explaining to do, so when we were up in the celeb box afterwards I said something about eating lettuce and nobody understood what I meant,' she said on Tuesday.

Becca continued: 'Every time we did this on set there would be an extra vegetable... carrots, peppers, you name it, we had it... the bananas were fake though but there was loads of real stuff.

'On the night there was lettuce and I was like "oh, I can rip that off and put it in his little pestle and mortar",' she went on to say before Kevin interjected to say 'which made no sense by the way, you never put lettuce in one of those so I took it out.'

'Yeah, he took it out and he ate it,' replied Becca only for Kevin to hit back with 'yes, because I knew you were getting a cake at the end of the routine so I didn't want to be left out!'

The dance duo are feeling fantastic after flying through week one and have teased big things for Sunday.

'The positive is that we got through week one, we nailed it as far as we're concerned and now we're on to week two which is really interesting, there's a lot of hip action going on... we're going to have a lot of fun this week,' said Kevin.

Dancing With The Stars continues on 12 January 2025.
