Joanna Donnelly has gone to ground and is taking comfort in the last of the Christmas chocolates after making her Dancing With The Stars debut on Sunday.

The night saw her Cha-Cha-Cha her way into the competition and the hearts of viewers alongside her partner Maciej Zieba fittingly enough to It's Raining Men but while she looked to be having the time of her life the experience has left her feeling emotional.

She also confessed that she had taken on a lot more than expected by trying to work through the show and is physically and mentally exhausted.

Joanna told her followers: 'I'm posting this one and only social media post, and then I'm off my phone for the day because it's all just TOO MUCH.

'I'm a physical and emotional wreck. I clearly took on way too much trying to work through and didn't get enough rest.

'I absolutely loved the experience and when the show kicked off the party atmosphere was electric.'

Joanna went on to thank everyone involved in the show from the makeup artists to the runners but reserved special praise for her partner Maciej calling him 'a perfect teacher' despite her 'completely messing up my steps.'

That said she is ready to get stuck back into training on Tuesday but not before packing away the Christmas decorations

'I'm going to try hard to rest for the rest of today - it is Nollaig an MBán after all - the decorations are down and [the] house is relatively tidy (how is that still mammy's job even on 6/1) and then start it all again tomorrow. Once I finish these chocs.'

Joanna was supported on the night by her family, sharing a fab selfie of them all beaming smiles for a snap close to the dancefloor.

Sunday was also a big night for pro-dancer-turned-judge Karen Byrne who swapped sides and took to the judging panel for the first time.
