It can be tough on a relationship when one partner plays for their country but for Galway's Aoife Ní Cheallaigh and Limerick's David Reidy, they know how to make it work.

Both parties had a busy enough year with the Ladies Galway football team making it into the All-Ireland final and the Limerick hurling team striving for five in a row; no easy task for either of them.

But when the championship season came to an end, Aoife and David headed off to catch some sunshine with David having a special plan in place.

Together for ten years, the couple met in college and their love for sport gave them that extra spark.

While time can be tight, Aoife told EVOKE at this year's LGFA TG4 Awards ceremony 'If we're lucky enough, the schedules will work out together. Sometimes they clash, but it's something we've just gotten used to over the years. I actually live in Limerick now, so that makes it an awful lot easier.'

Heading off to Majorca, Aoife had no idea what David had in store.

With Galway losing to Kerry in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Senior, the holiday was the 'pick me up' for Aoife.

When it came to the proposal she told us ' It was very simple, very low key. We were out for a walk on the cliffs and he surprised me and it was lovely I was shocked. I wasn't expecting it there and then. I suppose we've been gone out so long maybe it was the next step, but it definitely was a shocker.'

When it comes to wedding plans Aoife says they haven't had a chance to even think about what they want to do for the big day.

'Absolutely no plans yet. We came back, we're straight into club season, and it's been go, go, go since. So, we haven't had a minute yet to think about it.'

But when asked if it will be at home or abroad, Aoife does not doubt that they won't be leaving the country.

Congratulations Aoife and David!
