Doireann Garrihy and Mark Mehigan are soaking up every minute as newlyweds but how did their love story begin?
Both are high flyers in their jobs and when they got together in 2022 it was a match made in heaven. Mark got down on one knee a year later and they tied the knot at the end of 2024.
So, how exactly did sparks first fly between the two?

Before love...
Doireann Garrihy had been previously dating Paddy Wilson but after moving in together in 2019 they soon announced their split and she was positive about what the future had in store for her.
Over the years Doireann has gone from strength to strength career-wise with her 2FM breakfast show and Dancing with the Stars.

As for Mark, he didn't start his career as a comedian and his first love was music. At the age of 23, he spent time in Los Angeles working with Westlife singer Mark Feehily on music.
He moved to London to work as a writer for the BBC in 2015 after a few years he moved back to Ireland.

However, the funny man really made a name for himself when his comedy skits started going viral and racking up tens of thousands of likes and comments.
He then launched his comedy podcast The Sunday Roast.
How they met

Mark's cousin John John, who is a producer on 2FM, was going along to a comedy gig of Mark's. Intrigued, Doireann looked him up and sent a smiley emoji into his DMs.
According to Doireann's podcast, her friends had warned her against him but as she said 'I have a good radar for this' and listening to her gut she headed along to one of his gigs after he invited her.
After a few texts, both were unsure of where the land lay until a phone call from a mutual friend, James Kavanagh, got the ball rolling.
First date

The pair kept their first meet-up simple heading to Dun Laoghaire and walking up to Killiney. Chatting on Doireann's podcast 'there was an energy in the room' when the couple met.
Admitting he was too nervous, Doireann spoke of how she went straight in for the kill and ended up eventually kissing him first.
Making it official

After more than a bit of speculation, the two made things official in December 2022 by posting a sweet Christmas snap in front of a tree.
Speaking to the Irish Independent the presenter said that while he is the 'funniest person' she has ever met, she was a little apprehensive about dating someone who worked in the same industry as herself.
Doireann said she would say to herself: 'Is it too much? But he just completely gets what I do, is so supportive of it all, and I feel like I'm the same with him. [I] can bounce anything off him, and vice versa.'
Engagement

In late November 2023, the couple announced their engagement with Doireann posting a beaming selfie as she gave us a look at her diamond ring and wrote: 'The love of my life.'
The duo was flooded with congratulations, with one person writing: 'The BEST news!!! Huge congrats to you both, enjoy this very special time.'

Roz Purcell, who had also recently got engaged, commented: 'This is unbelievable news, good man Mark.'
The engagement ring is a round cushion-cut stone in a gold setting that retails for anywhere between €2,995 to €8,000 depending on the carat weight of the diamond.

The couple has set up a home in Doireann's newly renovated love-nest in Castleknock in Dublin.
Hen party

With the countdown to the wedding well and truly on, bride-to-be Doireann shared her excitement ahead of her hen party in September.
Her two sisters and bridesmaids, Aoibhin and Ailbhe, planned the hen do and Doireann was whisked away to Barcelona for a fun-filled weekend.
Wedding

Doireann and Mark celebrated their marriage at the exclusive K Club Hotel and Golf Estate in Kildare in December 2024. It was said to be a case of love at first sight for the couple after they visited the five-star hotel and toured the scenic garden and grounds.
Doireann looked every inch the blushing bride on her big day in a feather-embellished gown which according to Ireland's leading wedding website, One Fab Day, is bang on trend for the coming season.
'Feather embellishments were seen all over the Fall 2025 runways at Bridal Fashion Week, as simple accents or covering entire skirts and dresses like Doireann's, or on bodices, sleeves and even veils,' said Jessica O Sullivan, Editor at One Fab Day. 'We are going to be seeing a lot of dresses featuring feathers on brides in the next year or two.
Baby joy

In April 2025, Doireann announced the news she and her hubby Mark were expecting their first child with a heartwarming post that showed her waving about a picture of the first scan of her forthcoming arrival.
The RTÉ 2FM star could barely contain her happiness as she wrote of how she and Mark are 'beside ourselves with joy'.
'Here's to the greatest chapter yet,' she sweetly penned.
