Cuddle up through the winter with deliciously soft bedding, seating and accessories from €8

Cuddle up on the sofa, put your feet up, climb between cosy sheets, and welcome the long evenings.

We’re home-focused as more evenings are spent indoors and on the couch.

And we’re craving comfort, in the food we eat, the clothes we want to wear around the house and the type of furniture and furnishings we want to surround ourselves with.

Here are some worth considering.

Lounge in luxuriously deep pile seating

The Mova is a modular sofa from DFS’s Grand Designs range. It has a sleek silhouette whose configuration you can play with.

The end seat can become a footstool.

You can gather it around for movie nights or stretch out the five-seat length for alone time.

It features bolster back cushions and comes upholstered in a short-pile, high sheen fabric that is made from recycled material, and is blessedly stain resistant.

It costs €5,449 to order. The scatter cushions, pictured, cost an additional €55 each.

Bakery bites, including cream puff pouffes

Bo Concept’s Helena Christensen Sweet Art range is inspired by baked goods.

It includes a series of softly upholstered pieces that emulate the shape and feel of a pastry.

Available in beige, white, green, red and camel, the Italian fabric Lucca, specially commissioned by the former model, pairs sensory appeal with quiet sophistication.

A neat swivel chair starts from €2,469, while the cream puff pouffes cost €649 and €789 for the small and large sizes.

The Teddy cushions cost €79 each.

Nest-like slumber

Marks and Spencer’s tufted borg and fleece banded duvet set in the softest of neutrals, bringing in texture in the gentlest, teddy bear way.

You can add layers and weight by bringing in some gentle colour.

The company’s faux mohair check throw, €34 and matching 45cm square cushion, €27.

These come in three colour options: red, olive or honey, pictured. Climbing between these will send you off to dreamtime in minutes.

Mobile heat source

They may seem old-fashioned, but there’s nothing like a hot water bottle for hitting the spot, be it to soothe aches or tension, or add heat if working in a draughty office.

This miniature-sized blue design, €8, by Helen James’ Considered range at Dunnes Stores, is palm-sized, so it will keep hands warm on the commute to work.

The red one, also shown, is pocket-sized. Price €12. Both come with a knitted cover to protect you from direct heat.

Go on. Time for tea

It’s always teatime. Mix with masala chai for a warming cuppa on dark evenings, serve assam or a mix of assam and Earl Grey for breakfast.

For an Irish cuppa, it has to be Barry's, Bewley’s, Lyons' or Thompson’s. And always make a pot.

The hot drink is moreish and made for sharing.

A cosy, like this chalk and slate stripe knit from Toast, €45, that also comes in a band of orange and midnight blue option, will keep the brew warm.

Bird’s eye view

One of the greatest joys during the winter months is to watch the birds gather and feed.

We Make Good has designed a cool and contemporary shelter to offer our feathered friends protection and to help feed dry foodstuffs.

It comes in cyan blue or primary yellow options, and costs €58 from the Irish Design Shop.
