Plenty of fans were shocked when Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley announced their decision to split up after 12 years of marriage on Tuesday.
While news of the power couple parting ways came as a surprise to many, a closer look revealed some signs that had been pointing in that direction.
The TV presenter couple explained that there is no other party involved when they announced the news in a joint statement, saying: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separate.'

However, if we took a deeper dive into their relationship, it is clear that the celebrities, who share their two sons, Milo and James, together, were drifting for some time.
While the pair says they 'will continue to be united as loving parents to our children,' it appears that they have been living separately over the past few months. So, what were the signs we missed?
Patrick's mum's funeral

Cat was noticeably absent from her mother-in-law's funeral back in March, which caused a lot of onlookers to raise eyebrows.
MailOnline has reported that Cat remained in the UK to support her sons, Milo and James, who are grieving the loss of their grandmother.
It was business as usual for the mum-of-two, who did the school run and then co-hosted This Morning alongside Ben Shephard before collecting the boys from school.

A spokesperson told the publication: 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.'
While images emerged of Patrick looking bereft while carrying his beloved mum Mary's coffin through his home village of Dundrum in Down, Cat was nowhere to be seen.
Social media
You could also get a clear sense of the pair's impending split by checking out their social media feeds. Patrick isn't the most avid poster, but it is telling that his last mention of Cat was back in February 2024 when she landed her This Morning role.
Similarly, the last time Patrick was shown on Cat's feed was when she reposted that gushing message well over a year ago, despite her being very active online.
Public appearances

The pair also hadn't been making public appearances together. The last time they walked the red carpet together was as far back as September 18, 2023, when they attended the Ballywalter London premiere at The May Fair Hotel.
Separate bedrooms

Cat made an eyebrow-raising confession while chatting to her This Morning co-host Ben Shephard on the show, giving fans insight into her sleeping arrangement with Patrick.
The 48-year-old revealed that she stayed in the guest bedroom on weekdays, but cited their conflicting schedules as the reason.

She explained: 'It's one of those things that because of our schedule here [This Morning], from Monday to Thursday I sleep in the guest bedroom and the rest of the time I'm back.
'Because otherwise I get up at 5 am and I want to fall asleep earlier.'
It appears all the signs were there!
