Three is the magic number for Peter Andre and his wife Emily when it comes to their brood - and with good reason.
The couple shares daughter Amelia, 11, son Theo, eight, and their youngest, Arabella, while Peter is also a dad to Junior and Princess from his previous marriage to Katie Price.
Arabella, who just turned one in April, will be the last addition to the Andre family, according to Emily, as she opened up about experiencing two terrifying births and a rare complication that doctors had 'never seen before'.
Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, she revealed how her pregnancy with Arabella was particularly tough, saying: 'I had weird complications all the way through. She was breech. I've had two breech babies.
'She nearly made it to 38 weeks and I haven't really spoken about her birth and what happened afterwards because it was so hard and awful. It was tough. I was really unwell after she was born; there were quite a lot of complications.'
One of those complications included undergoing emergency surgery when her daughter Arabella was just a week old.
Emily developed a huge hernia which left her bowels in the wrong place, and there was also a strong risk that it would strangulate, creating an emergency situation. She first noticed something was wrong when she noticed a bulge in her stomach, which prompted doctors to urge her to return to the hospital immediately.
Her hernia issue was so 'rare' that Emily recalled: 'All the consultants I've seen said, "We’ve never seen this in our whole career." And I just think, oh, for God’s sake, why did it have to happen to me?'
Further complicating the situation was that Emily was breastfeeding Arabella at the time and had to persuade doctors to let her go home to express milk while she was in surgery.
She recalled her fears of undergoing surgery, but had one moment of reassurance when the porter revealed that Peter had been in the same theatre, and it was as a result of her dad operating on him that they first met. 'It was just something that took my mind off it,' she remembered.
Emily went on to talk about how her post-surgery recovery was also 'awful' and that it took her nearly a year to recover with the frightening experience 'cementing' her and Peter's decision not to have any more children.
Emily's admission comes after Katie Price took aim at her ex for 'not allowing' her to attend Princess's 18th birthday. She has also previously spoken out about Emily not putting on a united front with the family as she and Peter used to when they were together, but conceded that she's glad he is with Emily.
