Lisa McHugh is taking a well-needed break to rest and recover after receiving an incurable diagnosis, but who is the man standing by her side?
The singer tied the knot with her long-time love Nathan in 2022 after having to put their plans on hold during the pandemic.
So, how did Lisa and Nathan, who are parents to their children Milo and Hallie, meet? Lisa previously told EVOKE all about their sweet love story and here's how it goes...
How They Met

Being a singer, Lisa’s love story had to contain a link to music and she first set eyes on her love after playing a gig.
‘Myself and Nathan met on a random night out in Enniskillen. I went out with a friend after a show and we were walking around in the smoking area,’ Lisa recalled with a laugh in 2023.
She continued that it was her friend who first noticed Nathan. He was in town for a night out with his cousin but wasn’t living there at the time.
Would she say their meeting was fate? Lisa agreed that she would and sweetly added: ’He wasn’t living here at the time, it was completely coincidental that he was in the bar.’
Tying the knot

Lisa and Nathan said I Do in a dreamy ceremony in Co. Donegal in June 2022. Lisa looked stunning in a fitted gown which had a lacy pattern over the body and long skirt.
The couple celebrated their nuptials with their nearest and dearest with Philomena Begley, Johnny Brady Gary Gamble and Lisa's friend and ex Nathan Carter all making the guest list.
As they had to push their wedding back during the pandemic, Lisa and Nathan had an extra guest at their big day - their son Milo - making the day even more special.
Lisa’s pal who first introduced them even got a shout-out in the speeches at their wedding, talk about a successful matchmaker!
Growing their family

Lisa and Nathan welcomed their first child together, a son called Milo, in January 2022. The doting mama announced their happy news with a black and white snap of their son's hand and wrote: 'He’s finally here and he’s everything.'
Announcing their baby news in August 2021, Lisa said: 'Out of every dream and aspiration I hoped to achieve in life, becoming a mum has always been number 1 on the list and I cannot tell you how excited and incredibly blessed we feel to be starting our little family.’
Lisa and Nathan's family grew again in July 2024 when their daughter Hallie was born. Hallie had a 'tough start' with Lisa saying at the time her birth was 'so far from what we'd planned.'
Building a home

Although Lisa was raised in Glasgow, she’s now very settled in Enniskillen and loves being at home with her family, often shares clips of their life and her little ones enjoying music.
Who has control of the music can be a bone of contention in many households, so who gets to pick what’s played over the speaker in the house?
Lisa couldn’t help but laugh as she admitted that she and Nathan are like ‘chalk and cheese’ with their music tastes. She said: ‘He loves country now but his first love is rap. We’re like chalk and cheese when it comes to songs!’
Did that make picking the music for their wedding a little tricky? Not according to Lisa. She told us: ‘We’re chilled out people and we both love music. We appreciate that we each have our favourite songs. Thankfully, it all worked out.'
Facing tough times together

Lisa and Nathan were really put through it when their daughter Hallie suffered health problems and had to endure hospital stays while the little one was treated for RSV.
Thankfully, Hallie is well on the mend now but Lisa's health has taken a hit. Lisa revealed in July 2025 that she'd been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder.
FND affects the way the brain and nervous system work, leading to a range of neurological symptoms such as limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, walking difficulties, spasms, sensory issues, and cognitive problems.

She explained: 'The specific cause for FND is unknown, but one of the main triggers is stress, trauma & anxiety. And while there is no cure, it is treatable, provided you adapt your life as much as possible to manage it.
'I guess the stress and trauma of this last year and everything we’ve gone through has finally caught up with me and my body, and it’s now decided to make me physically stop, process, and heal from everything properly.'
Lisa is taking a break from music and social media so she can rest up and try to get her condition under control. Undoubtedly, Nathan will be by her side every step of the way.
