Zimmermann stays true to form with its SS26 collection

On Monday, the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week, Zimmermann closed out the season with one of its most confident showings yet.

The Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Kindred Spirit, was designer Nicky Zimmermann’s tribute to collaboration and creativity, inspired by the artist community of Sydney’s Lavender Bay in the 1970s.

The show took place at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris, where the venue was transformed into an airy artist’s studio. The space perfectly captured the collection’s mood: nostalgic, free-spirited, and deeply tied in with creative connection.

Silhouettes were full of movement and shape; think flared skirts, sleeves opened into soft capes, and peplum tops floated away from the body. Wide-legged trousers and sculptured flares also added to the sense of rhythm and ease.

The 70s inspiration was clear but not costume-like. Instead, Zimmermann reimagined the decade with her signature modern touch.

Psychedelic florals became graphic and dreamlike, acid tie-dye ran through strapless dresses, and lace appeared in unexpected bright shades. The result was vibrant, feminine, and a little surreal.

Accessories carried the same playful energy. Wooden platforms and leather sandals, while raffia slides were knotted with floral fabric to match the prints.

Bags were patchworked, tiered, or twisted into big knots, all adding to the handcrafted feel.

Floaty florals were at the heart of Kindred Spirit. Billowing dresses drifted down the runway, patterned with kaleidoscopic blooms that seemed to shift with every step. There was a lightness to the movement along with intense flashes of colour.

The prints, inspired by 1970s Sydney art collectives, ranged from soft painterly washes to vivid, almost psychedelic florals. It was Zimmermann doing what she does best: making romantic silhouettes feel fresh and modern.

Denim, meanwhile, grounded all that dreaminess. Rather than classic cuts, Zimmermann reworked denim into sculptural shapes; structured tops, wide flares, and belted jackets with fluted hems.

The pieces boasted a sense of ease while still feeling elevated. Some were detailed with delicate hand-stitched bird motifs, tying them back to the handcrafted spirit of the collection.

Per Dazed, Lana Del Rey also made her mark on the show, not just sitting front row, but through her words. Her 2020 poem 'What Happened When I Left You' was layered into Mimi Xu’s soundtrack, its wistful tone balancing the colour on the runway.

Other notable celebrity attendees included Olivia Wilde, Leila George, Maddi Waterhouse, and Lola Clark. With Kindred Spirit, Zimmermann delivered what she does best: romantic shapes, rich textures, and a strong sense of story.
