Meghan Markle has sparked outrage in Paris after sharing a clip that fans have dubbed 'bewilderingly tasteless' near the site of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana's untimely death.
Her trip to Paris marks her first visit to Europe since the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany. There was no Harry on her arm, just rarely seen pal Anderson, when the duchess arrived for Saturday’s fashion moment.
The Duchess of Sussex posted a video of herself with her feet up in a limousine as they drove close to the Paris tunnel where Diana's fatal crash occurred, passing bridges including the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides.

The next bridge along the Seine is the Pont d'Alma, next to the Pont d'Alma tunnel, where the infamous tragedy occurred.

Meghan shared the controversial clip on her story with her 4.2 million social media followers after leaving the Balenciaga show on Saturday night. She is in the French capital on a solo trip to attend some shows for Paris Fashion Week.
While there was no option to comment beneath Meghan's video, fans took to X to express their shock over the connection to Princess Diana.
'This was definitely an odd move on her part, even more bizarre that she posted it for the public to see,' one person wrote, while another added: 'And she probably wasn’t wearing a seatbelt either.'
'How tasteless,' another penned, while a fourth wrote: 'Highly insensitive - amazing that she is getting a humanitarian award this week.'

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the MailOnline that Meghan 'can't have been thinking' when she shared the video, as it 'defies belief.'
'I'm sure she didn't mean to cause offence, she can't have been thinking, but it's insensitive beyond belief. It's a complete absence of thought. She couldn't possibly have intended to be disrespectful, but it's another example of the Sussexes doing something that makes no sense at all.'

'Diana's death is a tragedy that has scarred so much of Harry's life, and I can't imagine he would find this very appropriate,' he added.
Diana died in August 1997, alongside her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. The incident, understandably, took a major toll on the royals, with Meghan's husband, Prince Harry, often vocalising how the tragedy of his mum's death still haunts him.
