Baz Ashmawy had a moment in the spotlight this week as he was the cover star on the RTÉ Guide.

But the TV presenter was brutally honest as he admitted he was not happy with the photo on the cover of the magazine, saying he looked 'awkward' and like an 'egomaniac'!

The 50-year-old was promoting three of his upcoming shows; Faithless, DIY SOS, and The Money List, but he couldn't focus on what he said in the interview as he hated the picture of himself so much.

Baz was in a self-deprecatory mood as he took to his stories, telling his followers he wasn't sure why the RTÉ Guide had chosen the particular photo for the cover where he props his chin up with his hand.

He gave the behind-the-scenes insight on the photoshoot, which doesn't seem as glamorous as it looks, saying: 'This is me on the cover of the RTÉ guide. There are reasons I'm there.

'There's not a reason that I've struck this pose in particular. It's a very awkward-looking pose. I don't know why they went with that. Kip Carroll is an amazing photographer.

'Love Kip, but my crew at the time, I was actually filming DIY SOS down in Wicklow, in Powerscourt, and I had to do a photoshoot for this while [filming].

'So I'm standing on a table and they thought this was hilarious because I was me standing on a park table in the middle of the day looking like an egomaniac, and this pose [on the cover] this supporting hand supporting [my chin] just, I don't know, I'm not sure what the meaning behind any of that is.'

He flipped to read inside the magazine, saying: 'There's me again sitting outdoors leaning on a tree cause I love leaning on trees.' He also poked fun at the headline which called him 'Mr. Bright Side,' saying: 'Am I? I'm not so sure.'

In the interview with the RTÉ Guide, Baz spoke about how his failures have led to his success as well as the milestone of turning 50 this year.

Baz said: 'Fifty is so different to what I thought it was going to be like. I thought I'd be a lot more grown up by now. I feel like I want to do more than ever.'
