Prince Harry recently returned to the UK, and while he was on home soil, seized the opportunity for an emotional reunion with his dad, King Charles.

The father and son last saw each other 19 months ago, and a source told the Daily Mail that his trip to Britain was about reconciliation with his family, as well as his duties.

The insider said Harry is focused on 'resetting his relationship with his family and the British people' after his tumultuous relocation to California with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020.

It seems both parties are keen to reconcile, with King Charles wanting to spend time with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. The source added that this could be the start of Harry and Meghan's royal return.

'It's become clear that Harry now regrets some of his actions. He wants to reset his relationship with his family and with the people of the UK,' an insider has said.

'It's hard to see him ever coming back to live in Britain, but this may be the start of something that at least allows them to be a functioning wider family again.'

The news of the reconciliation comes after Prince Harry told the BBC in May that the feud had become futile. The Duke of Sussex said: 'There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.'

Prince Harry said he 'did not know how long his father had left' after the King's cancer diagnosis in the same interview, but also recognises some family members 'may not forgive him' over his book, Spare.

Both King Charles and Prince Harry met at Clarence House, which was seen as the first step in their reconciliation. The King has not seen his grandchildren in over three years, with talks of them returning for a visit next year. And while sources say that Prince Harry 'loved' being back in the UK, there are no talks of Meghan tagging along.

Prince Harry was in the UK for engagements including the WellChild Awards, which recognise children who have suffered from life-altering illnesses and their bravery, alongside their carers.

He has now flown to Ukraine on a surprise visit as part of his work with the Invictus Games Foundation, which helps injured veterans. After spending the day in Kyiv, Prince Harry admitted he had to check with his wife, Meghan, and the UK government to make sure his stay was safe for him.

In an interview with The Guardian, he said: 'We cannot stop the war, but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process.

'We can continue to humanize the people involved in this war and what they are going through. We have to keep it in the forefront of people’s minds. I hope this trip will help to bring it home to people because it’s easy to become desensitized to what has been going on.'
