Mary Kennedy has shed insight on going it alone after the breakdown of her romance, saying she still has a thriving social life thanks to her friends and family.
In April 2024, the host who stepped back from RTÉ in 2019 revealed that she had found love again with a lovely partner named Tom, but she has now confirmed that the romance wasn't to be.
Mary opened up about how the relationship quietly wrapped up in 2024 and that she has been single for over a year.

Regardless of the setback, she insists that she feels 'lucky' and has been enjoying spending her time with her nearest and dearest.
Despite her career in front of the lens and more recently on the airways on her Changing Times podcast with Mary McAleese, she confessed that she is typically quite a shy person and spending time with those closest to her allows her to let her hair down.
As she confirmed that she was single, she told VIP: 'But I'm very lucky, even though I'm shy by nature, I can just breathe in and go for things rather than push back.

'So, I really appreciate having a huge body of friends and family with no notions and no formality; the more the merrier has always been my mantra.'
Rather than feeling like she's at a loose end, Mary adds that she actually feels busier than ever, and for one sweet reason, her grandchildren and she has spent the summer making precious memories with them and letting them 'wreck' her house.

Speaking of, when she moved house several years back, she was motivated by wanting a certain size home and staying in the same area close to her friends.
What she wasn't anticipating was a community of younger couples with whom she has also become close with and is something she is 'very grateful for.'
Her insight into being single comes after she recently opened up about how she would choose to be 'a different type of mother' if she had her time over again.
