It was one person in and two people out on last night's tense episode of The Traitors.

Paranoia was clearly growing and it was another big blow to the Faithful's morale when they found out they had banished another of their own when Nina was exiled in tears.

Things started off poorly for the contestants in the morning when they found out over break- fast that 25-yearold teacher Niall had been 'murdered' by the Traitors the night before.

The Tyrone man had performed well in the previous day's challenge, which involved him using his Gaeilge to win the team all the available money.

'Slán go fóill,' the Traitors laughed as they agreed to axe him. When the group found out the news, host Siobhán McSweeney joked that it was 'almost like you don't like money'. Yesterday's challenge saw the contestants scrambling to dig for 'gold bars' in a huge mound of dirt in front of some ominous mask-wearing monks. The team managed to win all €4,000 up for grabs. Cork firefighter John, 53, received a shield token which he could use to exempt one person from being killed by the Traitors.

The Faithful were quick to butter him up when they arrived back at Slane Castle but he ultimately made an error and chose to give it to Katelyn, a Traitor.

The 32-year-old leadership consultant truly proved she was worthy of her profession by showing that she was the most skilful negotiator.

While innocent Nina was ultimately voted out at the round table, Traitor Eamon came under intense scrutiny and received the second-highest number of votes.

Fellow deceiver Paudie, a retired prison officer, also felt the pressure with other contestants accusing him of not having his own opinions and trying too hard to fly under the radar.

Even Paudie's own son had said earlier in the show: 'I'm unsure about Paudie because whether or not he's my dad, he's part of the game.'

Paudie even lied to his son, and with arms out, declared that he was a Faithful.

Paudie had an argument with Katelyn after he accidentally let slip details of a conversation they had at a Traitors' meeting.

When the trio met up last night for another killing, they had a laugh that Katelyn had been so good at playing the role of a Faithful. In an aside just to the camera, she admitted that it may be time for some friendly fire to take Paudie out before he blows their cover.

The Traitors mulled over taking out three contestants, Michelle, Christie or Faye, but unfortunately for hooked viewers, they will need to wait until the next episode on Sunday on RTÉ One to find out who has been killed off.

When the first two contestants to leave the show got a chance to speak their minds to the media yesterday, Dave said that he was excited about where the show would go.

'The show's episodes so far have already been amazing. I think we'll be even bigger than the English version of The Traitors. We can't beat the English in football but I think we can beat them here,' he joked.

Radio presenter Diane, who was voted out on Monday night, admitted that she had chosen some 'nice frocks' that wouldn't get to be on TV now after her early exit from the show.
