Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Jon Bon Jovi's son Jake Bongiovi surprised everyone when they announced their engagement in April 2023 and it turns out he popped the question in a very unusual way.
It's been quite a whirlwind few years for the duo, who have since said I Do and announced that they've become parents to a little girl.
After their lovely family news, it got us thinking of an interview Millie gave in 2024 about Jake's unique proposal...
A very unique proposal story
While on The Tonight Show, Millie, 21, told host Jimmy Fallon that Jake proposed when they were on a dive. Although some people might think this is extremely random, she explained that they've 'bonded over diving' during their relationship.
She recalled how Jake, 23, told her they were going to go on an early morning dive at a new spot and when they were underwater he gave her a shell that had a ring inside.
The proposal wasn't without a little bit of drama either as when Millie went to show Jake the ring on her hand, it fell off and started falling deeper into the water.
The actress said: 'He puts the ring on my hand and, as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger [and] plummets — like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie.
'Jake threw himself so deep the diver was like, ‘You can’t do that! Your ears! Literally, your brain will explode!’ He throws himself. He does a cinematic grab, opens, and he saved the ring.'
Jake's quick action to save the ring is one of the reasons Millie loves him so much. She continued: 'It's a reflection of who he is and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back and if anyone drops the ball, we got it.'
Millie and Jake, who is the son of Jon Bon Jovi, surprised their fans when they announced their engagement when she was 19 and he was 20.
Fans and followers of the Enola Holmes actress expressed their well wishes for the couple, but also their absolute and utter shock. One commenter wrote, 'MARRIED AT 19?!!'
However, one very vocal fan of the actress stepped in to defend her against the people who were expressing their shock over her age in regards to getting engaged.
They wrote: 'Some of the comments moaning she's "too young". It doesn't matter which age someone find their soulmate (as long as it's legal). In the UK you can get married at 16. Stop sh****ng on other people's happiness because you don't have that yourself.'
Saying I Do
After quietly tying the knot in America in May 2024, the couple said I Do at a lavish wedding in Italy with all their family and friends.
Millie shared the first snaps from their wedding in October and looked incredible in an Oscar de la Renta dress which was covered in an intricate lace detailing.
Sweetly, Millie's Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine, who plays the Papa of her character Eleven Dr Martin Brenner, officiated their wedding.
Baby makes three
Fans did a double-take when they scrolled upon Millie and Jake's Instagram statement in August which revealed they'd become parents.
'This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,' the couple wrote.
Millie and Jake have not revealed a name or any photos of their baby and signed off their big life news by saying: 'And then there were three. Love, Millie and Jake Bonjiovi.'
