It's not every day you hear of an Irish perfumer working on a brand like Calvin Klein, but today happens to be that rare occasion.
Rising star on the fragrance scene, Meabh McCurtin works and lives in France, and she is an in-house Fine Fragrance Perfumer at the IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances).
Meabh has been busy building her portfolio of perfume at IFF. To date, she has created scents for brands like Montblanc, Ellis Brooklyn, Maison Martin Margiela, and Hugo Boss, as well as this fragrance for Calvin Klein.
Irish Perfume

Irish perfumers are few and far between, and Meabh is our most talented export in the fragrance world. After studying biochemistry at NUI in Galway, she moved to Lyon to further her studies.
After that, Meabh's passion for perfume took her to Geneva, Amsterdam, Paris and New York, and now she is back in the French capital where she is making scents for high-end and famous brands like Calvin Klein and Boss. But that doesn't mean she's forgotten about her Irish roots.
Cloon Keen

Meabh collaborated with Margaret Mangan of Cloon Keen in Galway on three of the brand's scents: Róisín Dubh in 2018, Lá Bealtaine in 2021, and Bel Étage in 2022. Those fine fragrances inspired by Irish heritage and folklore are available at Cloon Keen in Galway and at its store in Dublin's Powerscourt Townhouse.
So, what has Meabh created for Calvin Klein? Well, it's super trendy and a little different for the American brand that made Kate Moss a household name back in the '90s when she modelled its underwear in a campaign with Mark Wahlberg.
Calvin Klein

The most popular scents in the world right now are fragranced hair and body mists, thanks in part to Sol de Janeiro's rise in this perfume category. Other brands are following suit because this type of scent is a huge hit with a younger audience. Calvin Klein has just launched four scents, and Meabh McCurtin was the perfumer on one of them.
The four are: Silky Coconut, Sheer Peach, Nude Vanilla, and Cotton Musk, and Meabh created the last one on that list. Described as fresh and comforting, Cotton Musk has a warm and cosy musk accord, and it sounds like the perfect 'second skin' fragrance that's so popular at the moment. Meabh says, 'I was delighted to work on this new collection of mists for Calvin Klein, it’s a brand I have always admired for its clean aesthetic. I worked on the Cotton Musk fragrance with the Coty team in Paris for about six months. It is a solar creamy musk with a touch of amber and moss. I would describe it as a sensual and addictive scent. I love working as a perfumer in Paris, and being Irish, I feel I can bring a unique perspective to my creative work.'
The Calvin Klein CK Hair & Body Perfume Mists retail for €36 for a bottle that is 236ml.
