If we were to tell you that the future of fragrance was a mood and mind-altering piece of music that worked subconsciously on your brainwaves, would you believe us?

Well, it's true: a new line of scent has launched exclusively at Space NK with a rather unique offering - perfumes designed to stimulate different senses, accompanied by hour-long musical soundtracks that work on your brainwaves.

It sounds bonkers, but after listening to one of them, we are quite getting into the idea of spritzing and meditating on our mood rather than doom scrolling for a change. Here is how it all works.

Future Of Fragrance

Moods is a new range of fragrances and mini rollerball scents that have been created using ancient aromatherapy, along with scientific advances, to create a mood shift in the wearer.

This could be for anything from reducing stress to improving your focus and performance without procrastination, and there's even one for fitness to help you work out more intensely. The most interesting part of all of this is the brainwaves section, because they are all there: alpha, delta, theta, and gamma. Who knows, maybe this is the future of fragrance?

Neuro-Aromatherapy

There are eight Moodmist perfumes in the collection (€59 each, 100ml) and eight corresponding Moodroller rollerballs, €33/15ml. There are also four Moodswings scents. These are double-ended rollerballs that work when you need one or the other effect, €39/two x 6ml. The scents use neuro-aromatherapy, the band says, a clinically-proven way of using scent to enhance how you're feeling.

They are easy to decipher thanks to their names: Fit, Charisma, Found, Frisky, Euphoric, Chill or Genius, and they have some lovely blends that are calming, energising, for focus, or stamina. The brainwaves follow suit, working on the rhythmic patterns of the brain to enhance the olfactory powers of the fragrances.

The brainwaves feature is what makes this launch significant. Alpha waves are associated with a relaxed yet alert state, similar to meditating, while Delta waves are the slowest; these are linked to deep sleep and unconsciousness, which are associated with restoration and healing. Theta waves are also slow; these are related to drowsiness and dreaming, and are believed to encourage creativity and better intuition.

Gamma waves are the fastest, working to enhance focus and clarity in everyday tasks and problem-solving. Each of these is related to a scent, and you can listen to the hour-long music by clicking through the perfume's page on Space NK to Spotify. Or, you can search for Moods on the multimedia platform. The Moods collection also comes in a Rollercoaster Discovery set for €59, with eight 3ml bottles inside. Is this the future of fragrance in 2025? It sure feels like it.
