Evanne Ní Chuilinn is grateful for all of the opportunities that RTÉ has given her over the years, but she definitely doesn't regret her decision to leave.
The sports journalist left her role at the national broadcaster in February to start a career in politics and become a Fine Gael senator.
While the decision likely didn't come easy, Evanne has now said that she doesn't regret the choice at all. She answered fans' burning questions, revealing that a huge number of people wanted to know if she misses RTÉ.

'No, I don't miss RTÉ,' she told her followers. 'I was in RTE for like 20 years, and I put a lot of work into building that career, and I enjoyed it, and I achieved everything that I could in there.'
'When the Olympics were over last year, and the Paralympics were over, I had kind of decided that the time was right to look for a new challenge, and when the call from Simon Harris came out of the blue, it was just a really good call to get,' she explained.

While Evanne doesn't miss RTÉ, there are elements of her past role that she really enjoyed.
'I don't miss I don't miss my old job, but there is a buzz about being behind the scenes at live sports.
'When you think of live sports, people often assume (I'm talking about) All-Ireland finals and Champions League matches, and I've been to all of those things.'
'But actually, I love the buzz behind the scenes of some of the Olympic sports, or the Paralympic sports, like rowing or even athletics. I just loved being so close to the athletes. So, I miss that part of it,' she confessed.

Being behind the scenes isn't the only thing that Evanne looks fondly back on; she also enjoyed interacting with viewers and some of her colleagues.
'There are elements of reporting that I miss, and it's mostly just talking to people. But at the same time, I'm still doing that, and I will obviously need to do a lot of that in my new job,' she explained. 'So talking to people is something that I kind of buzz off.'

'There are some people that I miss working with. There are some really, really good people that I would miss, and that I continue to miss. So it's the people rather than the place that I would miss,' she said.
