That said, change is in the air with several holiday spots experiencing surges in popularity according to Loveholidays.ie's Recharge report.

Malta is having a moment
The travel site has pinpointed the places that are rapidly cropping up on Irish holidaymakers' radars and it's Malta that's a rising star right now.
According to Love Holidays, bookings for the dreamy island nation are soaring and are up 193 per cent based on 2024.
In particular, tourists from Ireland are flocking to the resort town of St Paul's Bay, which has seen an increase in visitors from here of 329 per cent.

St. Julian's is another perennially popular spot that is even further on the rise in 2025, with a jump in figures of 189 per cent, while Mellieha has also experienced a bump in figures of 168 per cent.
It's little wonder that Malta is proving to be a smash hit with tourists from Ireland, thanks to its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and atmospheric cityscapes, including the UNESCO-rated Valletta, and the 'silent city' of Mdina but no doubt fuelling the growth in tourist visitors is that it's become more accessible.
Aer Lingus introduced routes from Dublin and Shannon to Malta in 2024.
Seville is a rising star

Seville -and Spain for that matter- hardly needs any introduction for Irish tourists, but Seville is proving to be a particularly juicy spot to visit in 2025.
Bookings to the 'Pearl of Andalusia' have jumped 103 per cent based on 2024 and are holding pace with other popular city breaks, including Madrid and Barcelona.
Seville's selling points include its walkability as well as famed sights such as the Alcazar.
Budget-friendly breaks

Holding out for a last-minute getaway? According to Love Holiday, four destinations are jumping out if you're hoping to save some cash.
Morocco is leading the charge with an average cost of €390 pp, followed by Bulgaria at €468pp, Greece at €544pp and Tunisia at €597pp.
US uncovered

America is as popular as ever with tourists from Ireland, and there are no surprises as to the most popular spot.
Orlando is a top choice with bookings increasing 68 per cent from 2024. The jump comes hot on the heels of the opening of Universal Epic Universe.
Las Vegas, New York and Nashville all also feature in the top five most popular destinations to visit in the States.
