To miss a county match is nearly unheard of when you are a vital player on the team, but for Roscommon's John McManus, it looks like management were able to bend the rules slightly...it was his wedding day after all.
John and Orla O' Neill (who also plays for Roscommon ladies) met in college nine years ago and are each other's biggest supporters when it comes to the game.
However, exceptions had to be made when it was discovered that their wedding would fall on the eve of the Roscommon vs Meath match.

On Friday, May 30, John and Orla took their vows at Keadue Church, followed but a spectacular reception at Kilronan Castle in their home county.
Surrounded by friends and family, there were a few familiar Rossi players among the mix, including Enda Smith, Donie Smith, Ciaran Murtagh, Diarmuid Murtagh, Senan Lambe, and Tim Lambe.
John's dad, Tony McManus, who is an all-star from Roscommon, played for his county for 15 years and was there to celebrate with the happy couple.

Father and son are not the only skilled players as Orla is an important part of her local team Clann na nGael who won the senior county final last year as well as the playing for the Ladies Roscommon football team.

Orla's dress was a Martina Liana which she purchased in Love Ellie Bridal. Beads flowed throughout the dress and the bride finished the look with a long floating veil.
Chatting to EVOKE Orla said 'There was no nerves. I was very relaxed-my maid of honour would say too relaxed' and when asked about the Roscommon match against Meath Orla told us 'No he got the day off!'
With the season in full swing the couple will have to wait for their honeymoon but it looks like it will be well worth the wait.
She told us that 'In January in South Africa for safari and then Maldives so football won't be affected'
Congratulations John and Orla!
