Congratulations are in order for Jake Carter and Karen Byrne after they got engaged on the Dancing With The Stars dancefloor!
Jake proposed to his pro dancer girlfriend in the same place they met seven years ago when they were paired together on season two of DWTS back in 2018 and went on to win.
Now, the couple have another special memory on the dancefloor after Jake asked Karen to marry him on Saturday, March 8, in the most adorable way.
A video of the romantic moment showed Karen, who is a judge on the current season of DWTS, posing for pictures with the glitterball on the dancefloor when Jake surprised her by walking out with their dog Lenny, saying: 'Hello Mrs.'
A very surprised and confused Karen asked Jake: 'Why are you bringing Lenny out?'
Then Jake proceeded to get down on one knee and pulled out a ring box as he proposed to Karen, saying: 'Seven years ago, we met on this dancefloor and both of our lives changed forever.
'It was the perfect place to come back to and ask you, Karen... Will you marry me?'
Karen stood in total shock, with her hands to her face, as Jake (still on bended knee) begged her jokingly: 'Well, say something, Jesus!'
However, Karen was still in absolute disbelief, asking him: 'Are you actually for real? Jake!' He then sealed the deal as he asked her: 'Is it a yes?' with Karen responding with an enthusiastic, 'Yeah!! Oh my god!'
Jake announced their engagement on social media with a clip of the romantic clip of the proposal, writing: 'Here’s to forever…' with an infinity sign and an engagement ring emoji.
The couple were flooded with congratulations after Jake broke the news, with fellow DWTS judge, Arthur Gourounlian, saying: 'J’ADORE... Congratulations you guys.'
Carl Mullan wrote: 'OH MY GOD [followed by crying emojies]. Ah this is just class @jakecartermusic & @karendwts... massive congrats to you both.'.
Meanwhile, James Patrice, the DWTS social reporter, wrote: 'Still cannot COPE GALS,' along with the love-heart eyes emojis.
Speaking to RTÉ about the proposal, Karen revealed how Jake surprised her, saying: 'Long story short, they basically said to me on set yesterday, "We're gonna do a thing where you're handing back the trophy and we're gonna film it".
'So I'm on set, with the trophy, walking down to place it down on this stand because I'm handing it over and I'm never gonna get it again. I thought it was real sentimental... and then I heard these paws coming in. I'm thinking "That sounds like a dog".
'I turned around and Lenny's coming in, Jake's walking in behind him and then Jake got down on one knee. They started playing our whole journey in the background. I nearly died. I was in pure and utter shock.'
Sounds like the perfect proposal. Congratulations Karen and Jake, we already know that will be an epic first dance at the wedding!
