It was a battle of the royals as the Queen took on Princess Diana for the Best Actress in a TV Drama Golden Globe.
Jodie Comer, Laura Linney and Sarah Paulson were also nominated in the category with Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin but the Crown duo were the favourites to win the award.

It was newcomer Emma who was victorious on the night and her shock was evident as her name was read out.
All of her fellow nominees cheered her on as she composed herself with Olivia in particular looking absolutely chuffed for her.

During her acceptance speech, Emma thanked her co-star Josh O'Connor for being her 'Prince Charming' in the hit series.
She said: 'Thank you to my Prince Charming, Josh. I could not have done this without you.
'Thank you for making every single day by my side a complete joy.'
She also made sure to pay tribute to the woman she portrayed, the late Princess Diana.

She thanked Diana for teaching her 'compassion and empathy' as she accepted her award from home.
'And most of all, thank you so much to Diana,' she said. 'You have taught me compassion and empathy beyond any measure that I could ever imagine.
'On behalf of everyone who remembers you so fondly and passionately in our hearts, thank you.'

Josh O'Connor also won a Golden Globe on the night and paid tribute to his Diana, Emma.
As he gushed about her he also called her a 'brilliant player of rock paper scissors'.
The Crown was also victorious in the Best TV Drama category (beating out hits such as The Mandalorian and Ozark) and Gillian Anderson won Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her role as Margaret Thatcher.
