British PM Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus

The Prime Minister of Britain has tested positive for coronavirus.

Boris Johnson revealed on a video shared on his Twitter profile that he has developed mild symptoms of COVID-19, after being tested on the recommendation of his chief medical officer, Professor Chris Witty.

Boris said: 'Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.'

'I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government's response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives.'

Boris also thanked the National Health Service and added that he remained confident that the UK would beat COVID-19.

Downing Street also said about Boris Johnson's COVID-19 diagnosis in a recent statement: 'The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive.'

'In keeping with the guidance, the Prime Minister is self-isolating in Downing Street. He is continuing to lead the government's response to coronavirus.'

This comes just two days after Prince Charles was diagnosed with COVID-19.
