Harry and Meghan want to feel 'respected and heard' following Megxit

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially left the royal family. The couple carried out their final royal duties this weekend.

They have relocated to Canada with their son, Archie, who remained there while his parents attended a series of events.

And it looks like the couple will be making sure that in the future they feel 'safe, heard and respected'.

Royal expert Omid Scobie said Harry and Meghan will now focus on being with people 'they trust and like to be around' after stepping down as senior royals.

Speaking on the Heirpod podcast, Omid revealed: 'The future is about picking places where they feel safe, and they can feel they’re being heard and respected. And maybe there hasn’t been enough of that in recent years.'

He went on to reveal that's 'why the royal couple are so keen to have change'.

Harry and Meghan have been faced with a slew of hate, which they spoke about in their unprecedented interview with ITV.

Last year, during their trip to Southern Africa, Meghan told Tom Bradby that she felt they were ‘existing, not living’.

She added: ‘It’s hard…When I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy.’

‘But my British friends said to me ”I’m sure he is great but you should not do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life”.’

‘And I very naively… ”What the hell are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense, I’m not in tabloids”. I didn’t get it. It’s been complicated.'

Since then the couple has decided to step back from the spotlight by stepping down as senior members of the royal family.
