DWTS bosses confirm voting system won't be changed after Fr Ray received threats

The abuse Fr Ray has received during his stint on Dancing with the Stars has caused the programme to exercise their duty of care towards him.

On Claire Byrne Live the priest admitted that he had been brought to tears by some of the threatening messages he had received.

As a result of the vicious letters and messages sent his way, the Meath parish priest is utilising the duty of care Dancing with the Stars provides to its contestants.

Speaking to EVOKE about how the Dancing with the Stars team has been helping Fr Ray, a spokesperson for the production company ShinAwiL - which makes the series - said: 'ShinAwiL maintain a very close relationship with all contestants and give them support if required.'

'Father Ray received appropriate support and advice throughout.'

His fellow contestants have rallied around him and supported him denouncing the abuse and threats he has received.

After Sinead O'Carroll and Lottie Ryan were in the dance-off on Sunday, some viewers called for the vote results to be made public, while others wanted the vote to be scrapped altogether and the eliminations based solely on the judges' decisions. 

Asked whether they would consider making the voting results public on the show, ShinAwil told EVOKE it's not something they would do.

The show bosses also revealed that removing the voting element of the show's format was not something they would be considering.
